Tampa Bay Rays Go “Bo Derek” And Are Now A Perfect 10-0

Tampa Bay Rays Go “Bo Derek” And Are Now A Perfect 10-0.  It’s the longest streak to start season since 1987 Brewers.

Those of you who haven’t seen the 1979 movie classic “10” may not know what I’m talking about.  Those who have will totally get it.

Bo Derek rose to fame and became a sex symbol after her role in the 1979 film “10,” directed by Blake Edwards. Her portrayal of the beautiful and alluring Jenny Hanley, the object of the protagonist’s affections, caught the attention of audiences worldwide.

Historic Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays have made an impressive start to their 2023 season, winning their first 10 games in a row, including a 1-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night.

In that game, second baseman Brandon Lowe hit a go-ahead home run in the 8th inning, securing the win for the Rays.

The Rays’ 10-0 start to the season puts them in rare company, as only eight other teams in MLB history have achieved the same feat.

The last team to do so was the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers, who started the season with 13 consecutive wins.

The Rays have outscored their opponents by a total of 76-18 in their first 10 games, and their bullpen has been particularly effective in preserving their leads.

What does this 10-0 start mean for the Rays?

– It’s improved their chances to win the AL East from 20% entering the season at FanGraphs to 50% currently.
– Their playoff odds have gone from 61% to 91%
– Their World Series odds have gone from 25-1 at Caesars Sportsbook entering the year to 13-1 currently.

Tampa Bay have thrown 3 straight shutouts for the 1st time in franchise history. They’ve allowed just 18 runs in 10 games this season, the fewest since the 2004 Marlins (also 18).

The Rays are seeking to be the first team since the 2012 Giants to throw 4 straight shutouts and they have lefty Shane McClanahan on the mound on Tuesday.

He started 3 Rays shutouts since last season, including Opening day this year.

Tampa Bay Rays Fun Facts

The Rays’ formula so far has been hit a lot of home runs and prevent them. They’ve outhomered teams 25-4 (+21) so far this season, the highest home run differential in MLB history through 10 games.

Their 25 home runs are tied for the 2nd-most through a teams first 10 games of a season in MLB history.

Tampa Bay has won 10 straight home games against the Red Sox. It’s tied for the 3rd-longest active home win streak by one team against another, and it’s the longest active streak between divisional opponents.

Mayor Of Tampa Renames City Ahead Of Taylor Swift Concerts

Taylor Swift is coming to Tampa this weekend and the Mayor of the city just made a huge announcement.

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday Taylor Swift will be playing Raymond James Stadium. To celebrate, the Mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, is giving Swift the key to the city and even invited her to be the honorary Mayor for a day.

In addition, much like how Glendale, AZ renamed itself to “Swift City” ahead of Taylor’s concerts there, Hillsborough County has renamed itself to “Swiftsborough”. The City of Tampa will have Old City Hall, the Tampa Riverwalk and other bridges downtown glowing red in honor of Taylor Swift as well.

Whether you’re going to the concert and want to avoid the long lines, or just want to get your hands on some merch, there’s good news. We all know that Taylor Swift is THE hottest thing on the planet right now, even breaking the internet when tickets for the Eras Tour went on sale. To get a ticket to the show might not be easy, WFLA reports that there will be a bunch of Taylor Swift themed events happening around the city.

  • Candlelight: A Tribute to Taylor Swift

    Taylor’s biggest hits will be played on a string quartet in the candlelight.

    Tampa: 2 performances at Centro Asturiano de Tampa on Friday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

    St. Petersburg: 2 performances at The Birchwood on May 18 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

  • Lavender Haze Ball

    An all-ages 4 hour event on July 15 from 7-11pm with “Taylor-themed cocktails (and mocktails)” to honor her 10 “stunning eras.”

    Location: 510 Water St. Tampa, Florida.

  • Le Petit Fete’s Tay-Gates Meet-Up in Tampa

    These all-ages pre-show dance parties will have costume contests, themed photo areas and other various activities April 13-15 from 1-4pm .

  • Sorry You Missed Taylor parties

    If you missed the concert, there will be a 21+ Taylor Swift dance party with DJ Chrystaline Gold on April 14 starting at 7pm.

  • Swiftie Sips at Kahwa

    To celebrate Taylor Swift coming to Tampa, Kahwa Coffee is launching two limited-edition coffee flavors inspired by Swift herself: “Midnight Rain” and “Lavender Haze.” Both are on sale through April 16 and proceeds from the drinks will go directly to CASA of Pinellas, a program that aims to end domestic violence.

  • Taylor Swift Night Tampa: Eras Unofficial Pre-Tour DJ Dance Party

    On Friday, April 14, DJ Chey will be hosting a 4 hour dance party with all of Taylor’s hits and the entire Midnight’s album with contests, giveaways and more starting at 9pm.
