Amazing story out of Lakeland, Florida where the Division II softball Spring Games are taking place. The Grand View(Iowa) softball team was down 4-1 last weekend to Southeastern University of Lakeland. It’s the top of the fifth, two outs. Bases loaded. 1-0 count. That’s when Kaitlyn Moses hit a grand slam to give the Vikings a 5-4 lead. As she rounded first she collapsed to the ground with an apparent lower body injury. According to the rules, she needs to be able to round the bases without assistance from her teammates. But the other team….

Yesterday we shared a photo of an amazing display of sportsmanship shown by the Southeastern University Softball Team - SEU Fire Athletics. The Vikings were down 4 to 1 with bases loaded in a game between two highly rated NAIA teams. Kaitlyn Moses, a Grand View University senior, stepped to the plate and hit a grand slam. While rounding first base she went to the ground due an injury. Watch the attached video to see the exemplary actions that the Southeastern University athletes took to aid Kaitlyn to complete her homerun. Grand View Vikings @naia_sb

In an amazing display of sportsmanship, the team from Lakeland carried Kaitlyn around the bases.

Grand View ended up winning the game 7-4. NAIA rules state that teammates are not allowed to help move around the bases. Craig and Pete are unsure of the rules but we’re not sure if what happened was within the rules, either. But it doesn’t matter. What happened that day will stay with those women forever.

25 YEARS AGO 'TITANIC' GROSSED ONE BILLION DOLLARS. HOW WELL DO YOU REMEMBER?

25 years ago the movie ‘Titanic’ grossed one billion dollars.  It became the first movie to do so.  Since this was a quarter of a century ago, how well do you remember it?  We will find out during Wiki-Pete-ia on the Shemon and Sheppard Show on ESPN Southwest Florida.

We play Wiki-Pete-ia every day at 4:45 ash on the show.  Be caller number nine at 239-337-3776 or 239-337-ESPN and win prizes by competing against Pete Sheppard in trivia.  Mind you, Pete is full of useless information.  Also, mind you, his grasp of Titanic trivia is uncanny.  That includes actual Titanic trivia or ‘Titanic ‘movie trivia.  So be prepared.

James Cameron’s ‘Titanic’ was an amazing film with a great cast.  It included a young duo of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.  The film also included Kathy Bates, the late Bill Paxton, Victor Garber and the unforgettable Bernard Hill as Captain Smith.

The set was spectacular and the film was the most expensive ever made at the time.  Good thing is made more than a billion dollars.   Nevertheless, let’s see how well you remember the movie.  If you can’t get through as lucky caller number nine, then amaze your friends and co-workers with the trivia questions listed below.  Enjoy!
