COVID-19 Testing Sites Closing Ahead of Tropical Storm Laura

The Florida Department of Health in Collier County will temporarily close walk-up testing sites due to Tropical Storm Laura and its anticipated effects on Southwest Florida.

Tropical Depression 13 strengthened into Tropical Storm Laura Friday morning in the Atlantic and Florida is in the forecast cone, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of around 45 miles per hour as of the 9:05 a.m. updated advisory. Tropical Storm Laura is about 230 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands and is moving west at 21 miles per hour.

The system is expected to be near Puerto Rico on Saturday and current models show it near Florida early next week.

Laura is expected to reach hurricane strength by the time it nears Florida.

Testing sites impacted are as follows:

• Testing at DOH-Collier Immokalee site: 419 North First Street, Immokalee, FL 34142.

  • Closed on Tuesday, August 25, 2020
