Best Cities For Long Layovers Over The Holidays

best cities

Just in case you get stuck traveling this season, here are the best cities for long layovers over the holidays. Considering the amount of flight cancelations and delays we've seen this year, there is a good chance of getting stuck somewhere.

If you check your bag and find yourself stranded n an airport, these are the best cities to ditch the terminal and do some exploring

I always look for direct flights. But they are not always available from Southwest Florida. Connecting flights increase the chance of disaster. Disaster meaning lost luggage, missed connections, delays, etc.

Getting stuck with  a long layover doesn't have to suck. The team at Lawn Love has done the research to help if you find yourself in this situation over the holidays. They have a list of cities worth leaving the airport and checking out if you are stuck. However, there are cities that you are better off staying put.

Worst cities for long layers over the holidays

If you are stranded in Chattanooga, stay in the airport. In addition, most cities in Hawaii and Alaska are not worth the effort.

The 128 cities  home to the most busy airports were analyzed for this list. Things considered include delayed and canceled flights. In addition, the rankings considered how easy the cities are to navigate. Also, how far is the action from the airport is also important. You don't want to miss that flight if you go on an adventure.

Two of the cities on the list are in Florida.

Finally, the researchers consider city sights.  They want to make sure there was plenty to do, fun things to see. Also, things that don't cost an arm and leg. The idea is to make the most of your long layover rather than spend it in an uncomfortable airport seat or an overpriced bar.
