It is shaping up to be another hot weekend. If you are thinking about heading out to one of the of the area's beaches, there are a few updates to share with you. First of all, the Welcome Center has finally reopened at Lover's Key State Park and air conditioning has been restored.. The popular beach reopened in June but repairs are still ongoing. The permanent bathrooms are still not open. However, there are portable trailers near the kayak ramp for visitors to use. Speaking of the beach, it is still turtle nesting season and there have been numerous reports of nests being disturbed. If you across a problem or find sea turtles that have veered off course from the water, click here to find out what to do and who to call for help.

Lover's Key Beach is open and this week, the Welcome Center also reopened. It was damaged during Hurricane Ian along with much of the barrier island.

Next, Lee County officials are lifting the $6 toll on the Sanibel Causeway on Sunday. They are doing so for the next few Sundays to encourage locals to rediscover the island post Hurricane Ian. Businesses are reopening and are needing support to stay open in this traditionally slow summer season.
