Sunshine Health offers Ian Medical Help
Sunshine Health’s Welcome Room opened immediately after Ian hit and is still operational. The Welcome room offers an air conditioned, fully stocked venue to recharge and gather needed supplies. Those supplies include water, food, and diapers, among other daily necessities.
In addition to supplies and a comfortable space, Sunshine Health’s Welcome Room also offers a mobile medical care unit. Here you can get health screenings, including wellness checks, vaccinations and testing for illness, such as flu and strep throat.
The Sunshine Health Welcome Room continues is not only open to the public, but also local and regional media, as a place to recharge equipment while in the field covering recovery efforts in Southwest Florida.

A field hospital has already been established in the old Sears department store at the Edison Mall on U.S. 41 in Fort Myers. This is like a giant urgent care. **UPDATE (102022) SalusCare suffered some building damage from Hurricane Ian. They had been working around it but insurance adjusters are forcing them to temporarily suspend operations until they can figure out payments, repairs and such.
The SalusCare office at 3763 Evans Ave in Fort Myers sustained some hurricane damage but it is open for mental health services. Telehealth is also available. Treatments and services here are not determined on ability to pay.
