a katz/ ShutterStockOn Thursday, minimum wage workers in Florida be seeing an increase in pay.
The current minimum wage across the state is $8.65 per hour, but on Thursday it'll go up to $10 per hour.
In the November 2020 general election, Amendment 2 was passed, which means that the Florida minimum wage to will continue to rise over the next several years until it reaches $15 per hour.
Next year, on September 30, 2022 it will go up another $1 and will continue at that rate until 2026.
The last time Florida voted on minimum wages was back in 2004 when Amendment 5 was passed allowing for increases based on inflation and Consumer Price Index. Because of that, Florida saw an increase in minimum wage earlier this year from $8.56 per hour to $8.65 per hour.
