Lights. Camera. Action. The Fort Myers Fire Department is being followed around by a film crew from the TV show "Live Rescue" this week.
Footage of the fire department’s headquarters and one of the city’s busiest stations, Fire Station 11, will appear later on Season 3 of the popular A&E reality show, according to a news release from the City of Fort Myers.
“Having our department on Live Rescue gives citizens a glimpse into everyday situations we encounter on the job as firefighters,” said Fire Chief Tracy McMillion in the news release. “In addition, the recruitment value is tremendous.”
Viewers can expect to see rescue scenes involving health and safety incidents, structure fires, and vehicle accidents.
Live Rescue airs at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It’s unclear if footage from this week will appear this weekend or later in the series, or how long filming will continue in Fort Myers.
The show follows EMTs and fire departments from across the country as they bravely put their lives on the line responding to emergency rescue calls.
