The Lee County Forensic Team, Osceola County deputies, and Brevard County deputies were investigating a new crime scene on Friday morning in connection with missing San Carlos Park girl Diana Alvarez, according to NBC2.
A wooded area in Yeehaw Junction is roped off in crime scene tape, just 141 miles away from where 9-year-old Diana was last seen alive in 2016.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there is an “active investigation,” NBC2 reported. The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed they received information from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office related to Diana's disappearance.
A family friend, Jorge Guerrero, was found guilty of creation and possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 40 years in prison. The naked photos Guerrero had on his phone were of Diana.
Investigators believe Guerrero kidnapped and killed Diana after his phone pinged at cell towers near Yeehaw Junction following Diana’s disappearance.
