There’s Now An Ice Hockey Fighting League That Skips The Hockey And Goes Straight To The Fights
If you're the kind of fan that watches hockey for the fights, this is for you. An ice hockey fighting league just launched called "Ice Wars". It skips the annoying part of skating back and forth trying to score goals and skips straight to the fighting.
So the setup is kind of like UFC, except for, you know, hockey. The combatants enter the ring, which is on ice, dressed in full hockey attire. At the start of the match, they discard their hockey gloves to reveal UFC-style gloves underneath. Then it's on.
“The most extreme combat sport ever invented and a fascinating new world where only those rough enough, tough enough, and skilled enough will come out on top,” reads the league’s description on the Ice Wars website. The description continues.
- Comprised of professional and semi professional fighters at the top of their game in top fighting condition
- We begin this 4 series event in the Spring of 2022
- All fights consist of two 1-minute rounds on ice
- KO or TKO ends the fight
- Judges score fight if needed (points system)
- UCF style gloves used
- Fighters drop actual hockey gloves to start the fight
The league is headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan so I'm not sure when the next event is. The site just pushes it's pay per view link. As for the production team, I did recognize one name. Kato Kaelin is a producer. Ice Hockey Fighting looks to be the future.
