I like taking the weekends to go out and explore and THIS weekend you can discover cultural treasures during Free Museum Day in St. Pete this Saturday.
If not every weekend, at least a few times a month, I try to go check out somewhere I've never been. Just this past weekend in fact I took a day trip to Punta Gorda to the Peace River Botanical and Sculpture Gardens. Whether it's a garden, a museum, or a new bar or restaurant, I like exploring. Here in Florida, there's SO much to see and a lot within just a few hours from Fort Myers.
This Saturday get into museums in St. Pete for free
If you enjoy visiting museums, this weekend is Arts Alive! Free Museum Day in St. Pete. It was about 5 years ago that I went on the free museum day that the Smithsonian does to The Ringling in Sarasota. It was such a cool way for me to go without having to shell out an admission fee. Especially because in general art museums aren't really my thing. But I was pleasantly surprised and went back even after that day. Not so much for the art, but rather for the circus museum and the gorgeous grounds, it's SO beautiful. Now this weekend, WFLA reports 4 museums will be participating. Some are open to everyone, and some just for Pinellas County residents. You'll find more info below.
These Museums will be offering FREE Admission this Saturday:
Imagine Museum
The Imagine Museum is filled with glass art from all over the world. This Saturday, they will be open from 10am-4pm. Tickets are free, but because they're based on time entry, grab one here
The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art
The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art was founded by businessman Thomas James. The museum houses a large collection of paintings, sculptures, jewelry and artifacts by 20th and 21st century artists. This Saturday they'll be open 10am-4pm. A limited number of walkup tickets are available, so your best bet is to get one ahead of time here
Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg
Only Pinellas County residents will get the admission fee waived this Saturday. They will be open 10am-5pm. Residents need to just bring their ID to enter.
The Dali Museum
I've been wanting to check this museum out! This Saturday, however, the free admission will apply to Pinellas County residents only. You can reserve a ticket here
