I have a new obsession. These super food snacks are a Fort Myers Farmers Market Fabulous Find. They are good for general snacking, completely amp up a cheese and charcuterie board, and add pizzaz to breakfast. The goods are from Oh My Goodness Snack Mindfully. A company based in the Miami area, owners JJ and Frances are new to the Southwest Florida market scene.
For the last couple of Wednesday's, I've stopped by their tent at Lake's Park Farmer's Market. Even with the market attendance shrinking, the crowds around Oh My Goodness seem to get bigger and bigger. Lakes Park is a seasonal market and has usually wrapped up by now. However, vendors got a late start because of Hurricane Ian damage to the park. So organizers decided to keep things going through the end of June. That means, there are only a few more weeks left at this spot until it reopens in the fall.
If you enjoy healthful foods that taste good, your time is limited at this location to meet JJ and Frances, and buy some of their great products. Frances started the journey making her buckwheat based, organic granolas in the Washington DC area before relocating to Florida where she met JJ. Dried fruits and nuts were a big part of his Turkish heritage and seemed the perfect accompaniment to her granola. The two joined forces for a delicious partnership.
About the snacks
Local fruits such as pineapple are dehydrated and sold in small bags and bento snack boxes. They are also mixed into some of the granolas. No sugar is added to the coconut flakes for a more natural, pure flavor. The strawberries are mind-blowing. Apple cider vinegar and a mild chili pepper are used in the dehydration process making them a little spicy as well as sweet.
Almonds are coated in white chocolate and matcha while walnuts are coated in a mix of wild hibiscus and dark chocolate. All of these are good on their own, but also make a killer addition to a cheese and charcuterie boards. I've also experimented with the strawberries in cocktails. They were fabulous.
