Scuba divers explore the superstructure of the Gen. Hoyt S. Easy to get to with flights from Fort Myers to Key West

Now is the time to start planning your summer vacations. If you don't have a lot of time or don't want to travel too far from Southwest Florida today's flight news was supposed to be good for you. However, those new direct flights from Fort Myers to Key West postponed today by Silver Airways out of RSW.

The airline announced the new flights in February. Beginning today, April 18th, they were supposed to run every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The advertised cost was $79. I checked the airline website this morning to confirm the fares and the routes. None were scheduled.

A customer service agent told me the routes had been canceled and were being revamped. New dates will be announced as soon as all obstacles on the runway have been cleared. Figuratively speaking

Travel And Flights From Fort Myers To Key West

If you haven't taken a road trip to Key West, stopping at all of the other keys along the way, you have to do it at least once. Just pack some patience. Sometimes the traffic can be horrendous and the drive time tops five hours. However, it is quite an adventure, and the scenery is gorgeous.

Flights From Fort Myers To Key West may be the fastest mode of travel. However, the Key West Express is faster than driving and it is a lot of fun.

Not everyone has the time or desire to sit in a car that long. So, when the Key West Express docked it's high-speed ferry in Southwest Florida it was a game changer. The boat whisks passengers away in half the amount of time. There is an upper deck for fresh air, the lower has air conditioning and there is a bar to get the party started.

Flying is still the fastest way to get to Key West. The clear blue water looks so inviting flying in. Over the years there have been charter air services and other small airlines that have come and gone with direct flights to the Conch Republic. Fingers crossed Silver Airways will open the route in time for summer vacations from Southwest Florida.
