The Carolina Panthers Are In Trouble

The Carolina Panthers Are In Trouble

We are just a day into free agency and the Carolina Panthers are in trouble. The Panthers spent over $150 million to beef up their offensive line. Except all of that money is going to guards in Robert Hunt ($100 million) and Damien Lewis ($53 million). And they resigned cornerback Troy Hill and long snapper JJ Jansen. It's never a bad idea to invest around your franchise quarterback. And that's what the team has to believe Bryce Young is going to be. However, paying out $100 million for a single interior offensive lineman where that are still many issues on the offense seems like poor money management. And it continues to be the reason why the Carolina Panthers are in trouble.

Brian Burns

The biggest move of the day for the Panthers was trading Brian Burns to the New York Giants for just a 2nd and 5th round pick. Brian Burns is one of the best pass rushers in the league. Somehow the Panthers managed to accept pennies on the dollar for Burns' service. And according to reports the Panthers have turned down a much better trade offer in the past. And it's why the Panthers are such a mess right now. Multiple reports out of Los Angeles had the Rams offering two first round picks and a second rounder for Brian Burns. The Panthers thought it to be better business to reject the multiple 1st-round picks and opt for a 5th to compliment their 2nd round pick instead.

Tepper

Unfortunately for Panthers fans this is going to be a trend that continues. The problem is not the GM, head coach, or quarterback. The problem is David Tepper's ownership. Management is fearful that he will pull the chord on their tenure like he has done with others. Tepper has burned through 3 Panthers coaches in his 5 full seasons. He also owns Charlotte FC which is on their 3rd manager in as many seasons. Tepper is the problem. His overbearing nature forces bad moves by the organization. He needs to change or get out of town if the Panthers have a shot at a real rebuild.

Adam Schefter has the contract details for Everett in Chicago: two years and a max value of $14 million.
