If you have a spring break or summer vacation you're planning, prepare to pay as some of the most expensive flights in the country are in Florida.

I love to travel, but let's face it, it can get expensive. And usually the biggest chunk of a trip can be just getting there. I know a lot of people that like to road trip. Living in Fort Myers, so far south in Florida, it takes forever just to get out of the state. I'm pretty much to the point where if it takes longer than 4 hours to get there, I'd rather take a flight. But flights can get pricy. I was looking at airfare to Cabo for a friends trip this September and I couldn't find anything less than $600. Add in the resort, and whatever excursions I choose to do, it can certainly add up. I used to be able to find cheap flights all the time, but I feel like that is becoming more and more difficult.

Florida Has Some Of The Most Expensive Flights In The Country

It makes sense in the winter months especially, that flights to Florida are pricy. Everyone up in the snowy north wants to come to the Sunshine State. Upgraded Points put together a list of the most expensive flights in America and Florida came up 6 times in the top 10. And the majority of them included flights to Florida from Colorado. We love warm weather in Florida, but if you like to ski, that's one of the spots to do it. The most expensive is from Aspen to West Palm Beach with $770.65 for a ONE-WAY ticket! And it's not even direct. Absolutely insane. But it beats flying into Denver, where you can probably get a cheaper fare, and driving the 3 1/2 hours there. Overall, I find that flying out of a larger airport can save you some money, but it's not always the most convenient option.

Other flights that make the list of the most expensive include Aspen to Miami, Eagle, CO to Miami, Aspen to Fort Myers, Miami to Sun Valley, ID and Eagle to Fort Myers.

Florida Airport Makes List Of Top Ten Best For Food in the U.S.

Are you one of those people who always arrives at the airport super early? Do you find yourself twiddling your thumbs and counting down the minutes until your flight takes off? Sometimes staring at the clock makes time go by SO slowly, but if you fly out of the Tampa airport, you do have some exceptional food options to help pass the time.

I don't know what it is about airport beers and bloodies, but they just hit different. It might just be knowing that a vacation is about to start, but maybe, just maybe they have a super-secret ingredient that takes it up a notch.

Maybe spending time at the bar isn't your thing, but rather taking in a nice meal. Let's face it, not every airport has great food options. There's usually always something, but some are definitely better than others. If flying out of RSW isn't your best option, the good news is that Tampa isn't too far away.

Food & Wine put together their list of the best U.S. airports for food based on reader votes and Tampa International Airport came in at #6 on their list. The magazine said about the airport “From sports bars and tables with aquarium views to menus with authentic Neapolitan pizzas, Tampa International Airport has an unexpected range." Food & Wine also mentioned the Columbia Café and wood-fired pizzas at Bavaro's as being some of the best food options in the airport and Cigar City Brewing for the best local beers.
