If you're a Food Network fan, it's so exciting that a popular show on the channel will be filming an episode this week in Fort Myers.
I'm not much of a cook, but I love cooking shows. You would think over the many years of watching shows like Chopped, The Pioneer Woman, The Kitchen, Barefoot Contessa, the many Guy Fieri shows and more that I would have picked up some skills. But not so much. Just the other night, in fact, I watched the first episode of the new season of Tournament of Champions. I told my parents "I want to be a chef!" And their response? "Maybe in your next life". I'm just always blown away with with they come up with. I think, though, that I would be better off as a judge or a taste tester.
Popular Food Network Show To Film Episode In Fort Myers
Great Food Truck Race has been a staple on Food Network since 2010 and is in its 17th season. Hosted by Tyler Florence, the show follows food truck teams across the country selling food and completing challenges with hopes of winning the $50,000 grand prize.
This Wednesday, February 21st, Great Food Truck Race will be filming in downtown Fort Myers. And the best part, is that you can be a part of it! According to NBC2, the episode will be filmed from 9-11am at Centennial Park and First Street. At 11:30, the trucks will be open for business. At this time, it's unknown what the trucks will be selling. But it is the final episode, so they'll be the best of the season. Tomorrow, not only will you be able to try some delicious dishes from the trucks, but this may be your moment to shine on camera too.
This isn't the first time Great Food Truck Race has come to Fort Myers. Back in 2019, the reality show filmed in downtown Fort Myers and at Fort Myers Brewing, Millennial Brewing and Old Soul Brewing.
Living in Florida, we know we have a ton of choices when it comes to good food. Especially here in Southwest Florida. Think of all of the delicious restaurants on Sanibel and Captiva islands, in Downtown Ft. Myers, on 5th Avenue in Naples or in many of the malls in the area like Gulf Coast Town Center and Bell Tower. Although many of the island restaurants are still recovering from Hurricane Ian, many have reopened. But, have you tried any of these places Guy Fieri went to on his popular Food Network show, Diners Drive-Ins and Dives? If not, you should.
I'm not a big cook, however I'm obsessed with the Food Network and one of my favorite shows is Guy Fieri's “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives." Not only has it given me some great ideas on places to try, but it's also fun to see what each place offers. And my list keeps getting longer especially since 67 Florida restaurants have been featured. Guy obviously loves being down here in Florida.
If you want to see a list of ALL the restaurants featured on the show, TVFoodmaps.com has a full list. But, out of the 67 in Florida, not all of them are still open. Let's take a local angle for those of us in the Fort Myers/Naples area. So, here are 20 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' restaurants closest to us in SWFL (in order by mileage).
If Guy Fieri loves these places, we've got to give them a shot. Here are 20 Florida Diners Drive-Ins and Dives With Guy Fieri.
