Sip Sip Hooray For Beaujolais Nouveau Day In Southwest Florida

Georges Dubeuf Beaujolais Nouveau label

Thanks to Georges Duboeuf for inviting me to review this wine for Beaujolais Nouveau Day.  They provided me with free wine in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

The third Thursday of November is a special day for wine lovers. In fact, it is the biggest wine release party in the world. When you go into wine shops, grocers and related retailers in Southwest Florida today you will see why. Cases and bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau wine with festive labels are now front and center on end caps and store displays. Sip sip hooray for Beaujolais Nouveau Day.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a simple, light style wine that vineyard workers in France would drink to celebrate the end of an exhaustive grape harvest. Made from gamay, the wine is not meant to blow your socks off but rather be festive and simple. It hasn't had time to mature and only goes through a short fermentation process before getting bottled.

What is Beaujolais Nouveau Day

The ceremony surrounding this day began in the 1950's when producers would race to be the first to get their wines to Paris. Corks pop at 12:01 in the morning to celebrate the new vintage. That tradition is still honored today and all over the world. Local retailers began stocking their shelves and setting up displays in the wee hours of the morning so you can grab your bottle today.

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2023 is now in the stores and ready for the holidays.

Georges Duboeuf, a famous French wine negotiant is the one credited with bringing the wine to the masses. They overnighted a bottle for me as a gift. So at 12:01 this morning I was able to join the worldwide party and sample the first of the new harvest. This vintage has some cranberry, cherry, a hint of smoke, and lots of fresh acidity.

When it comes to Thanksgiving wine, Beaujolais Nouveau is almost always a hit. The labels are usually bright and festive to match the juice that is inside. Cheers.

The clock is ticking and Thanksgiving will be here before you know it. Thanksgiving in Southwest Florida is always interesting because it is almost always warm. Instead of huddling around a bonfire, we typically have to crank down the air conditioning. But no matter where you celebrate this year and what the weather is, the dinner table is consistent and it is delicious. If you are hosting or tasked with making a dish to contribute, here are five simple side dishes for a tasty Thanksgiving dinner and for TikTok Tuesday.

It seems that this week my TikTok feed has exploded with all things Thanksgiving. Videos have included fun crafts to do with kids as well as elaborate tablescapes for the adults. But nothing seems to be populating more than food. Food is the signature marker of Thanksgiving celebrations and for many tables, it's a free for all of side dishes. There are all kinds of staples and many families have their own traditions and favorites. The flavors and creations that end up on the Thanksgiving tables are always interesting. Many of them are classic comfort foods like mashed potatoes and gravy.

A big bird or giant ham may be the center piece of your Thanksgiving meal. However, everyone knows it is the side dishes that everyone talks about most.

But that is not all. Recipe creators are always coming up with new things to try. Maybe you'll find some listed below. You do not need to have a TikTok account to view these videos. Simply scroll down and play from this post. It's super easy. In addition, all of these videos are office friendly and are good to share with friends and family members who might be having a side dish dilemma. Enjoy these five simple side dishes for a tasty Thanksgiving dinner and for TikTok Tuesday.

Shaved Brussels Sprouts

Brussels Sprouts are hot and trendy. But not everyone likes them still. Instead of roasting them in bacon or pancetta how about this for something different. The recipe comes from The Modern Proper but here is a video showing how simple it looks.

I have to be honest. I did not know what to think with this at first. I had no idea what she was doing but after seeing the finished product I think I can buy into these. They might even be good for a holiday brunch treat too.

She calls this a lazy green bean casserole. However, I call it a cheesy version. Green bean casserole is another Thanksgiving staple but this one has a little bit of a twist.

I wonder what it would be like to put some jalapeno in here too. Spicy and sweet. It sounds delicious and looks pretty easy to accomplish.
