Fall and winter are a great time to enjoy peaceful and scenic settings. In the U.S., there are several small towns that offer a tranquil escape for those looking for a getaway. These towns feature cozy coffee shops, hotels with beautiful views, spas, ice skating rinks, wineries, and other attractions. Whether you prefer a romantic dinner by the waterfront or a horse-drawn carriage ride, there are plenty of enjoyable activities to explore in small towns.

A team of travel experts from New York Travel Guides conducted a comprehensive study to identify the 140 most romantic small towns in America. Their analysis included 600 small towns nationwide, evaluating them in categories like comfortable places to stay, engaging activities, historical architecture and scenic beauty, and inviting coffee shops and restaurants.

Florida has two of the most romantic small towns in America.

The travel guide included St. Augustine in the third spot on their list. They described it as an ideal destination for a romantic getaway due to its rich historical charm. They emphasized the opportunity for visitors to leisurely explore 18th-century buildings, explore hidden courtyards, and enjoy picturesque waterfront views. And they can do all of this while experiencing the ambiance of horses trotting along St. Augustine's brick-paved streets.

According to Visit St. Augustine, the town offers a variety of unique and romantic date options. These options range from cycling together to exploring the city's sights to experiencing it all from a horse-drawn carriage. They also recommend venturing out to sea for a sunset cruise or chartering a sailboat for a private sail.

Palm Beach earned the 14th spot on the list of the most romantic small towns. The travel guide highlighted this town for its diverse selection of romantic accommodations. According to The Knot, a wedding website, Palm Beach particularly appeals to couples who appreciate wine, cocktails, and fine dining. They also mentioned the Palm Beach Food and Wine Festival as an option worth exploring.
