Road rage is no joke, and Ernest Woods has learned that the hard way. This Florida man found himself on the wrong side of the law after allegedly turning a busy Deltona street into the Wild West. Hold on to your steering wheels because this story takes a few unexpected turns.
According to Fox35, Ernest and his better half were cruising along SR-415 when road rage reared its ugly head. Now, you'd think the story would be straightforward, right? Nope! Both sides had their own spicy version of the tale.
Ernest's wife, bless her heart, claimed an SUV was tailgating them. In response, Ernest decided to take things slow, just to tick off their tailgater a bit more. According to her, the SUV driver didn't just tailgate but they also threw in some racially insensitive slurs. That's when Ernest decided to take out his frustration on his trusty firearm.
However, deputies investigating the scene couldn't spot a single dent or scratch on Ernest's car from those alleged rock projectiles. That's one unsolved mystery!
Road Rage Erupts:
The other driver had a different narrative to share. According to him, Ernest was on a mission to turn this traffic tiff into a duel of insults. He called him names, he cut him off, and then he went full Clint Eastwood, pulling out his firearm like he was in a spaghetti western. Ernest then allegedly shouted, "This is Florida, stand your ground!"
Luckily, no one got hurt, but the victim's SUV? Well, it now has two extra ventilation holes in the back, courtesy of Ernest's temper tantrum. And let's not forget the shell casings that littered the intersection.
Ernest didn't get too far, though. Deputies tracked him down, and he didn't go quietly into the night. He resisted arrest and even gave a patrol vehicle a taste of his destructive side.
Now, Ernest finds himself cooling his heels behind bars, without bond. Lesson learned, keep your cool on the road, or you might just end up like Ernest. A guest in the Volusia County Branch Jail.
