9/11 Ceremonies In Southwest Florida Today

Today is the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States. On this day, planes hijacked by Islamic terrorists struck the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. Another plane crashed into the Pentagon just out side of Washington DC in Virginia. In addition, another plane crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers fought agains the terrorists. The event forever changed life in the United States as we knew it. To remember and pay respect to those lives lost during the attacks, there are numerous 9/11 ceremonies in Southwest Florida today.

There are remembrance events and ceremonies all over our area. They are taking place throughout the day. Here are a few of them if you would like to participate.

Charlotte County 9/11 Ceremonies

  • Pioneer Park in Englewood hosts a remembrance ceremony at 9:30am
  • North Port Fire Station 81 has a Patriot Day Ceremony at 6pm

Collier County 9/11 Ceremonies

  • Freedom Memorial Foundation Candlelight Ceremony 6:30pm, 1515 Golden Gate Pkway
  • Beach House Naples, Honor and Remember event 11am
  • Golden Gate Government Center, 9:30am

Lee County 9/11 Ceremonies

  • Cape Fire and Police Remembrance, Cape City Hall 8:30
  • SWFL 10-13 Club Retired NYPD and Police Association of Cape Coral, 8:30am, Cop Shop parking lot
  • Crunch Fitness 9/11 Stair Climb, all day
  • Lehigh Fire Station 10, 8:30am

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends, family and co-workers of the men and women who lost their lives that day. Those  who went to work like any other day the week or year, and never made it home. We will never forget.
