Bad Burger: Melbourne Man Foiled in Wendy’s and Bank Robbery

Mugshot of Daniel Jeconiah Gibbs. The Melbourne man who attempted to rob both a Wendy's and a bank.
Welcome to a sizzling summer in Melbourne, Florida. Complete with record heat and legendary criminals like Daniel Jeconiah Gibbs. The Melbourne man who attempted to rob both a Wendy's and a bank, and succeeded at neither.
It's hot here in Florida right now. But is it the kind of heat that makes you want to savor a juicy burger or even... treat yourself to some cold, hard cash? That's what Gibbs seemed to think when he decided to embark on a journey of double trouble. So according to Fox 35, Gibbs waltzed into a Wendy's at 135 Palm Bay Road, presumably with his eyes on the prize. The cash filled register.
Gibbs flashed what employees thought was a gun tucked into his waistband, making his bold demand for cash. But the universe had other plans. The employee, frozen in a state of "WTF?" did what most rational beings do when confronted with confusion. They froze. Enter a clueless co-worker, unaware of the attempted stick-up, who innocently approached the counter, probably wondering if they should choose fries or a salad. Gibbs, caught in the crossfire of his own stupidity, made a hasty retreat, leaving behind nothing but a baffled staff and an employee who dramatically collapsed into the arms of their colleague.

Melbourne Man Foiled:

Oh, but Gibbs was not to be deterred by one failed robbery! Hours later, he decided to try his hand at a different sort of financial endeavor... A bank robbery! Police didn't reveal which bank but this time, he was clearly taking the advice of 2020 doctors and donned a head covering and a medical mask, you know, safety first.
Now,  our Melbourne man  managed to fool absolutely no one. His masked adventure was recorded on surveillance footage, and authorities wasted no time in uncovering his identity. After a not-so-thrilling manhunt, our guy was finally apprehended by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. And what did they discover during his arrest? A large, sheathed knife, the kind that would make Crocodile Dundee nod in approval. Police noted that given the victim's "fear," the knife handle could have easily been mistaken for a firearm. So knife-or-gun? You be the judge!
It's a summer to remember in Melbourne, Florida. A saga of burgers, botched bank robberies and wide-eyed criminals. Say cheese Daniel!

Florida Restaurants Make Yelp’s List Of Best Burger Spots In America

I love me a good burger and 5 Florida restaurants have made Yelp's list of the best 100 burger spots in America.

May 28 was National Burger Day and personally, I don't think burger consumption should be limited to just one day. Whether it's a enjoying a burger at a restaurant or on the grill in my backyard in Fort Myers, burgers are one of my favorite foods.

So what makes a good burger? Well first, let's start with the buns. But do you prefer a classic sesame seed bun? Or a trendy brioche? The bun should provide the perfect balance between flavor and texture, complementing the ingredients rather than overpowering them. Then we have the patty, the star of the show. The secret to a fantastic burger lies in the quality of the meat and the art of the seasoning. The patty should be juicy and cooked to perfection.

Now, let's talk about the cheese – that gooey, melty, glorious layer of goodness. From sharp cheddar to creamy Swiss, the cheese choice can make or break a burger. Of course when it comes to other toppings, you have options! From the classic lettuce, tomato, and onion to more adventurous options like arugula, candied bacon, jelly or mac n cheese. These unique flavors can elevate a good burger to a great one.

So how did Yelp put together their list? They looked at businesses in the restaurants and food categories with a large amount of reviews mentioning "burgers". Then they ranked them based on how many reviews and how they were rated. If you want to check out the full list, click here. Below are where Florida restaurants serving up the best burger ranked.

#20 Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Gilbert’s is known for “thick, juicy, cooked-to-perfection” burgers that Yelpers would “give 6 stars if that were an option.”

#53 Love Food Central, Saint Petersburg, Florida

This restaurant is 100% vegan and gluten-free which sets them apart from the others. Their burgers are a homemade beet & black bean patties.

#66 SOB Burgers, Bradenton, Florida

When I lived in Sarasota, I used to hear people talking about SOB all the time, but never tried it for myself. Looks like I'll have to! The reviews consistently mention how big the burgers are and how many options there are from buns to toppings.

#68 Pincho, Hialeah, Florida

Sounds like their secret Pincho sauce is what sets their burgers apart. They also have some unique toppings like fried plaintains. I may have to take a trip to the other coast to try this!

#99 Engine No 9, St. Petersburg, Florida

This place has consistently been rated as having the best burgers in the Tampa Bay area. I'd have a hard time choosing which to get from the Border Line to the Goat Head to One Bad Pig, their menu looks AMAZING!
