Sunshine State Shakedown: Troopers Uncover 250 Pounds of ‘High’-way Fun

Sunshine State Shakedown yeilds 250 pounds of weed.

You won't believe what happened during a routine traffic stop down in Florida. It's a Sunshine State Shakedown like you've never seen before!

So, the Florida Highway Patrol, pulled off a spectacular bust during a traffic stop. According to WCTV, this guy Kelvin Maysonet was driving around in a black Chevy Suburban with windows darker than the night sky. Seriously. That WILL get you pulled over.

Now, as soon as Trooper Tinted Windows pulled Kelvin over, things got sweaty. And I don't mean a little trickle, I'm talking full-on Niagara Falls on this guy's forehead. The trooper probably thought, "This dude shouldn't be this worried about a tint ticket."

You know that moment when you're trying to keep your cool, but your body's like, "Nah, let's turn on the waterworks!" Yep, that's Kelvin. While he's sweating like a marathon runner in a sauna, the trooper calls in his furry backup – K-9 Kane. And boy, did Kane know what's up. He sniffed around that Suburban like it was a giant dog treat, pointing out some interesting spots, to say the least.

Fast forward a bit, and there's Kelvin, chatting it up with the troopers, probably thinking, he's gotthis in the bag. However, during their chat, the troopers figure out there's a whopping 250 pounds of weed stashed in the car. That's like an entire forest worth of trees! And wouldn't you know it, Kelvin suddenly gets weak in the knees, collapses, and lands on the pavement. I'm guessing he had the revelation that he's going to jail.

So, the troopers search the car and what do they find in the Sunshine State Shakedown?

Not just boxes on boxes of pot, but there's THC wax, pre-rolled joints and enough THC gummies to keep a whole block party groovy.

Remember, always drive sober, especially if you're transporting a forest of weed. And if you see a Suburban with tinted windows, just give 'em a nod and a knowing smile.

Pensacola Florida Sheriff Deputy Sucked Into Storm Drain And Pulled Under Highway 98

The Escambia County Sheriff Department has released body cam footage of Deputy Hollingsworth coming to the aid of a stranded motorist near Highway 98 which runs through Pensacola. This was during one of the many torrential rains we've seen across Florida lately. Not just in the panhandle, but down through Tampa and into Southwest Florida. We've all seen significant rain.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Department describes the event which happened on June 16th.

"Escambia County Deputy William Hollingsworth was on patrol and helping stranded motorists caught in rapidly rising waters. At one point, Deputy Hollingsworth exited his patrol car to approach a citizen who was trapped in these rising waters. As he approached, Deputy Hollingsworth witnessed the citizen go underwater and rushed to his aid without regard for his own safety. During the rescue attempt, both the citizen and Deputy Hollingsworth were sucked into a drainage pipe and were swept underneath the four-lane roadway of Hwy 98. They were submerged for approximately 30 seconds and traveled nearly 100 feet underwater. They eventually resurfaced on the other end of the roadway - lucky to be alive."

Pensacola has a LOT of rain last weekend, but c'mon. You'd never expect to sucked down into a storm drain. But to come out alive? Even more remarkable. The Sheriff does an intro, the body cam footage starts at around 1 minute.

Insane

How are they still alive?

They were submerged for about 30 seconds and traveled nearly 100 feet. I understand how the man was praying when he popped out on the other side. Also, thanks to Sheriff Chip Simmons I now know how to properly pronounce "Escambia."
