We always like to pass along good stories like this one. A Fort Myers Student scores a $40K Amazon scholarship. 400 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarships were just awarded to help students pay for college tuition. The money is awarded over four years to help students who are pursuing a degree in computer science or engineering. In addition, it includes a paid internship after the freshman year is completed.
Aum Dhruv is one of the 35 Florida students who received a scholarship. He attends Fort Myers High School and is looking to attend either Princeton or Yale to study engineering. Right now, his career goal is to be an executive at a financial services or tech firm. Later, he hopes to be a science policy advisor.
Amazon scholarship winners were selected by using a variety of criteria. Academic achievement is one of them. In addition, students' leadership and participation in school and community activities was taken into consideration. Finally, things like work experience, future goals, and financial need were factored in.
“It’s incredible to not only have the financial support, a paid internship, industry mentors, and other resources," Aum said, "But also to be able to represent Amazon alongside passionate and kind-hearted scholars."
Congratulations Aum! The Fort Myers Student scoring a $40K Amazon scholarship.
More Than Half Of Florida Drivers Fail The Driving Test On Their First Try
So it's official. Florida has some terrible drivers. Let's be honest. Miami, Naples, and Orlando might be the trifecta of terrible drivers. I mean, I've seen some questionable driving in my day, but these cities take it to a whole new level. In Miami, it's like every driver thinks they're filming the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.
And don't even get me started on Naples. It's like a retirement community on wheels. Everyone driving at a snail's pace and refusing to use their turn signals. And as for Orlando, well, let's just say that there's some Goofy Drivers there. How did they ever pass their diving test?
It comes as no surprise that according data from KyrosAML.com, Florida ranks in at number four with a pass rate of only 47.1%. That's right folks, more than half of Florida drivers fail their driving test on the first try.
