It's a question that's been on the lips of theme park enthusiasts everywhere: should vloggers be banned from Orlando theme parks? If you're like me, you make the drive to Disney World in Orlando from Cape Coral or Fort Myers and expect a good time. But According to Reddit, the rise of vlogging culture has some visitors are finding their park experiences to be a little less magical. Take for instance, Reddit user SupernovaTraveller, who shared this gem of a story:
"I once got stuck behind a vlogger in line for BTMR. I didn’t really feel like being live-streamed for 30 minutes, so I just made really, obnoxiously loud fart noises. She stopped after about 1 minute."
Now that's one way to get a vlogger to back off. And while it might not be the most mature response, it's hard to deny the satisfaction of getting some peace and quiet after enduring an overeager vlogger for too long.
It's a tale as old as time. Vloggers descend upon the Orlando parks, causing chaos and irritation for the other guests. As Reddit user MonotoneTanner laments,
"The worst part is everyone has jumped on this vlogger fad bc everyone thinks they do Disney differently and think it’ll be easy to make it big. I can’t stand riding a ride with a vlogger 70% of the time they ruin the experience or preshow for everyone."
Orlando Theme Parks:
And it's not just the rides that are affected. As Fluffernuttersndwch discovered, vloggers can be disruptive even during shows.
"I cannot stand them. I had a lady that runs a big TikTok livestream page sit in front of me at the Nemo show in AK last year obnoxiously recording and holding her phone in a way that was distracting. It’s also a somewhat dark theater so her phone was super bright. I leaned forward and said 'excuse me ma’am but your livestream is very distracting, can you please lower your phone?' And she got all huffy. I hope her followers heard me. These people are so entitled."
But while many Reddit users seem to be firmly anti-vlogger, there are some who don't see the big deal. As Commercial_Place9807 puts it,
"They don’t bother me. I’ve only ever seen two: Tim Tracker and Prince Charming Dev. They were both out of the way and inconspicuous. The only things that bother me at Disney are giant wagons, kids dangerously darting in and out of crowds, and overly exhausted babies and toddlers screaming their heads off, so essentially bad and/or rude parents are my only irritants."
Of course, it's worth noting that not all vloggers are created equal. As derekno2go points out, "Admittedly, I do enjoy some vloggers but the whole culture of vlogging and influencing is the worst." And sejohnson0408 adds, "The TikTok dancers are the worst."
The verdict:
So, what's the verdict? Should vloggers be banned from the Orlando parks? On the one hand, vloggers can be annoying, intrusive, and downright obnoxious. On the other hand, they can be hilarious, entertaining. They provide a valuable service to theme park fans. These guys keep us up-to-date with the latest rides, attractions, and food offerings. Personally, I think we should allow vloggers to roam free, but impose some common-sense rules to keep them in check. That way, we can all enjoy the entertainment value of vloggers without sacrificing our own enjoyment of the parks.
