Post Ian Job Fair For Lee County Schools

Hurricane Ian left thousands of Southwest Floridians jobless. In an effort to help those people, as well as fill already existing voids, there is a post Ian job fair for Lee County Schools this week. The School District of Lee County is looking to recruit people to step into a range of instructional and non-instructional positions within the district.

The event actually begins today with a sort of preview called Social Lee: Careers & Conversations. It's at Mission BBQ in Fort Myers. The gathering offers general insight on positions available. In addition it gives a look at the numerous career paths that exist within the school district.

Details about the Job Fair

The actual job fair itself is Thursday, October 27th, at the Lee County Public Education Center. The center is located at 2855 Colonial Blvd. and the fair runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Attendees need to register by Oct. 26. You can do that now by clicking here. Computers will be available at the job fair so attendees can also apply online.

There is a high-demand for teaching and guest teaching positions for English, elementary education, science, math and special education. But that is not all. The needs are also high for  non-instructional positions such as instructional support, food service  and other support staff.

If you have earned a bachelor’s degree in any field you can become eligible for Florida teacher certification. However,  you'll need to pass a subject area exam in your field of expertise. In addition, you can complete additional coursework or enroll in a teacher preparation program.
