Sylvester Stallone (L) and Jennifer Flavin

UPDATE 8/25/2022 10:15 AM EDT: Sylvester Stallone  clarified his divorce from wife Jennifer Flavin is not due to a dog.

TMZ reports Stallone clarified to them that his wanting another dog was not the reason the couple's marriage ended. He said the couple "have just taken different paths" and he "still has love" for Flavin.

ORIGINAL STORY
Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, are divorcing after 25 years of marriage reportedly due to a dog.

Closer Weekly broke the news stating Flavin filed for divorce in Palm Beach County, Fla. Per the court documents, Flavin noted, "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken."

Stallone said in a statement to the press, "I love my family. We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues."

Flavin said in a statement to People, "I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage, I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters. I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward."

Further details about the split are unknown, but TMZ has an interesting report stating a dog led to the divorce. Stallone wanted to get a Rottweiler "for protection," and Flavin did not. This led to a "heated argument that brought up other issues." However, TMZ's source said those other issues weren't "marriage-enders."

TMZ added, "Sly ended up getting the dog named Dwight ... also the name of his character on his new show 'Tulsa King.' Sly posted videos and photos of him with Dwight this month on Instagram."

Earlier this week, U.K.'s The Daily Mail speculated on the split after Stallone's covered up the bicep tattoo of his wife with a photo of his late dog, Butkus.  The dog appeared in both  Rocky and Rocky II. When reached for comment, Stallone's publicist Michelle Bega told the outlet, "Mr. Stallone intended to refresh the tattoo image of his wife Jennifer however the results were unsatisfactory and, unfortunately, unfixable."

Bega added, "As a result, he had to cover the original image with a tattoo of his dog from Rocky, Butkus. Mr. Stallone loves his family. The Stallones are presently filming a reality show together which will debut on Paramount+."
