Reds Pitchers Combine For A No Hitter – Still Lose

REDS

PITTSBURGH, PA – MAY 15: Hunter Greene #21 of the Cincinnati Reds walks to the dugout after being removed with a no-hitter still intact in the eighth inning during the game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on May 15, 2022 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Justin Berl/Getty Images)

I know I live in Southwest Florida, but I grew up a Reds fan from Ohio. And even though I know this is already a lost season, stuff like this still hurts. The Red's Hunter Greene pitched 7 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball, and is taking an "L".

The Pirates won, 1–0, after taking the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI groundout by Ke’Bryan Hayes. The Reds pitchers gave up 6 walks, which provided the Pirates just enough baserunners to win the game 1-0. It won't count as an official no-hitter as the Reds were the visiting team and only pitched 8 innings.

This is rough for me. The last time the Reds were truly good, I was a kid in Ohio. So I'm posting pictures from 1990. I need this. Also, look how small Mark McGuire is in these pictures. What happened?

Also, I have access to a TON of old pictures from Getty Images. If you ever want a gallery of a game, just ask.  - Joe
