(U.S. Open)
In only his second U.S. Open appearance, Richard Bland is currently sitting at the top of the leaderboard at -5.
Bland, who last missed the cut in 2009, tee'd off at Torrey Pines at 7:07 a.m. Friday morning and finished the day with a four under par 67.
The 48-year-old's last tournament win came in May when he won The 2021 Betfred British Masters.
"When I saw the course... it's set up pretty straight, it was all there in front of you so if I kept driving it well I felt like I could give myself chances," said Bland on his recent success.
Russell Henley tees today at 4:03 p.m. as he sits second overall on the leaderboard at -4.
Last year's champion, Bryson DeChambeau, is tied at 19th place overall at E after finishing round 2 with a two under par 69.
