Pedro Luis Padilla, 20, is facing charges of driving with a suspended license, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, and grand theft auto.
The Collier County Sheriff's Office received reports of a stolen 2004 Ford truck near Collier Boulevard and Manatee Road.
Police tried to pull over the truck, but instead they were led on a 27 mile pursuit.
Aviation was dispatched and tracked him to a dead end in Golden Gate Estates.
Padilla exited the truck and swam across a 40 foot canal. Police were close behind him and were able to apprehend him after Padilla realized there was a helicopter on his tail.
