The dynamic duo of Robbie Landis and Ben Morse is back once again for another episode of the Other Identity. The Other Identity is a podcast about exploring the culture created by comic books. Two weeks ago the world was devastated by the loss of Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick Boseman is best known to comic book and superhero fans as King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther. Robbie and Ben talk about the effect he had on the Cinematic Universe.
Fit for a King
Chadwick Boseman first graced the silver screen in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. He played the part of Prince T’Challa, not yet the King of Wakanda. Unlike most characters who pop up in other heroes' films before they get their own, Boseman’s T’Challa felt fully realized. Boseman was an incredible actor that brought depth and gravitas to his character. His Black Panther was someone you immediately wanted to know more about. Someone you wanted to see more of on the screen. Despite Civil War being a Captain America movie (Or Avengers 3.5), you just wanted more T’Challa.
Changing the World
To talk about the impact that Black Panther has on the world outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robbie and Ben are joined by Norris Howard. Norris leads the team over at CheckpointXP On-Campus and is a huge Black Panther and X-Men Fan himself. Norris talks about the cultural impact that Chadwick Boseman, King T’Challa, and Wakanda have had on the world. In the comic book world, most people think of places like Gotham City or Metropolis. But in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wakanda stands above the rest. That is in no small part to the Black Panther, King T'Challa and Chadwick Boseman.
