China Approved Coronavirus Vaccine Fro Use On Soldiers In Their Military

China has received the green light to use a COVID-19 vaccine developed by its research unit for its military.

Per the New York Times, "The Central Military Commission approved the use of the Ad5-nCoV vaccine candidate for a period of one year." They add, "Ad5-nCoV is currently limited to military use only and its use cannot be expanded to a broader vaccination range without the approval of the Logistics Support Department."

The vaccine was developed by CanSino Biologics and the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences. In clinical trials, Ad5-nCoV was safe and showed some efficacy. The vaccine has also been approved to be tested in humans in Canada.

According to the New York Times, China has eight coronavirus vaccine candidates that are approved for human trials at home and abroad. They add that the country has also offered two other vaccine candidates to employees at state-owned firms traveling abroad.
