Developing Story: Dr. Disrespect Banned From Twitch

Dr. Disrespect

In a shock move this week, one of the biggest streamers in the world, Dr. Disrespect, saw a ban from Twitch. The removal comes amid a litany of shocking sexual misconduct allegations in the gaming world. However, in the case of Dr. Disrespect we do not know if that was why he was removed from the site. There is a cloud of uncertainty around the streamer, whose real name is Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, and if the ban is permanent.

A History Of Shock Streaming

On June 26, 2020, as reported in a tweet from gaming insider, Rod "Slasher" Breaslau, it broke that the streamer was removed from the site for an unknown reason. However, according to Breslau, it is not a DMCA takedown, which Beahm saw suspension for previously.

Beahm is no stranger to controversy or massive numbers. Even with over 4 million followers, Beahm's been suspended from Twitch multiple times. The most memorable of which revolved around him streaming from a restroom at E3. However, what makes this removal so suspicious is the shocking lack of information coming out from either party. On the day of his removal, Dr. Disrespect approached the end of his stream, unusually. Completely outside of his usual bombastic demeanor, he seemed pensive, reflective and somewhat frightened. Earlier in the stream, he seemed to check his phone and the entire tone of the stream shifted. It is unknown what he saw or received, but it visibly shook the streamer.

Even More Secrecy

To add even more question marks to the ordeal, "Slasher" Breslau came out and said due to the "importance and sensitivity around the subject" he would refrain from revealing the cause of Beahm's suspension. It is unlike Breslau to not divulge sensitive information when he has it, therefore, it only exacerbated people's hunger for the story.

CheckpointXP reached out to Twitch for more information and we were sent this response from a Twitch Spokesperson:

"As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

CheckpointXP will continue to follow this story as it develops.
