DeSantis Signs Bill Allocating $500M of Florida’s Budget to Increase Teacher Salaries
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Wednesday afternoon allocating $500M of Florida's budget to public and charter school teacher salaries in the upcoming school year.
HB641 takes the state's average minimum salary for 26th in the nation to the top five. The governor made the announcement at the Mater Academy in Hialeah Gardens.
DeSantis said he hopes this will entice more people to go into teaching and help them have a good minimum salary and meet end's meet.
This is reported to be the single largest teacher's compensation package in the history of the state of Florida.
