Anyone Who Violates Isolation Orders Will Be Arrested And Held Without Bond
The Supreme Court of Florida issued an order Friday that states anyone who violates a coronavirus quarantine or isolation order will be arrested and held in jail without bond, according to NBC2.
Chief Judge Michael T. McHugh signed the order stating that those who are arrested shall not be given a notice to appear nor will be released pursuant to any local bond schedule.
The violation would be considered a second-degree misdemeanor and was set in an effort to enforce the emergency rules that have been put in place to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
"This particular order means if a person is told to self-isolate because it’s believed they have COVID-19 – but they’re caught hanging out around town – they could find themselves isolated behind bars," WTSP reported.
The order is to remain in effect until further notice.
A judge may accept testimony from the department of health and make a determination of whether setting a bond or bail is appropriate.
