R.E.M.’s ‘It’s the End of the World’ Entered iTunes Singles Charts During Coronavirus Pandemic
R.E.M. appears to be benefiting from the ongoing concerns around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic.
Per Consequence of Sound, the band's classic 1987 single "It's The End Of The World" re-entered the iTunes singles charts over the weekend at number 64. Upon review of the charts as of publishing, it appears the song has dropped from the chart, which is littered with the various top 40 acts of the day, and frankly, that makes this writer feel anything but fine.
Whether or not the song could re-enter the Billboard charts, only time will tell, but clearly some people are finding comfort in the nostalgic, cold war-themed song from the band's album, Document. If it helps get you through the times we're all living in, good for you.
