A man nearly lost his life after being injected with an unknown substance in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

The incident occurred at Northside Hospital last Friday.

According to WSBTV, the man who was injected was a patient at the hospital.

He was allegedly injected with a substance, that has yet to be identified, by a visitor.

Immediately following the injection, the patient, 50, went into cardiac arrest.

Nurses and doctors rushed into the room and performed life saving measures.

It is believed the victim and the suspect knew one another.

The hospital has since launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

A nurse who witnessed the interaction between the suspect and the victim was able to phone authorities.

Police have confirmed they know who the suspect is, but at this time no arrests have been made.

As for the man who was injected, he has been discharged from the hospital.
