Ready for some Labor Day Weekend events? If you are not headed to north Florida to volunteer in hurricane relief or helping neighbors in Southwest Florida who were flooded again., there is plenty to keep you busy from Fort Myers to Naples. This three day weekend is famous for many things, including sidewalk sales. You will find them almost everywhere and offering all kinds of discounts for the end of summer. However, there are way too many to list here.
Labor Day Weekend events
The first weekend of September kicks off Friday night in downtown Fort Myers with ArtWalk. Timing could not be more perfect for an exhibit at Lee County Alliance For The Arts called Storm Stories. It surrounds Hurricane Ian and has numerous component. The exhibition is be taking place the entire month of September. Scroll down for more.
The days leading up to the weekend have been stressful for many people. Watching Hurricane Idalia come dangerously close to our coast ignited memories of last September when Hurricane Ian hit. Watching the damage in the Big Bend area of Florida has been heartbreaking. We know too well what that is like. If you are feeling overwhelmed by it all, click here for some resources. Take care of yourself.
We saw damage from the storm in many areas. However, it was not as bad as what folks in the Big Bend experienced. Many businesses experienced flooding again. It never hurts to call ahead and make sure your favorite places are open. The toll on the Sanibel Causeway is lifted again this Sunday to encourage visitors. However, the island did experience some flooding so this is an instance of double checking with the businesses you want to support before heading out.
One more thing. If you have any upcoming events you would like to share, please send them here. Here are your Weekend Vibes for Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3. Get out and have some local fun. Cheers.
