While growing up in Florida, I always count down the days until the fall and winter months arrive. While Florida might not have season changes, we still get to look forward to all of the seasonal and holiday festivities. Another major plus that Florida offers during these months are romantic small town, activities and getaways. Various cities in Florida offer different romantic hotels, art galleries, romantic eateries, spas, and more.

These romantic getaways can be perfect to wind down the year with your partner. Life can become chaotic due to variables like work or unexpected factors. Getaways can help refocus that quality time together with your partner. If not with a partner, taking a romantic getaway is not marked off the calendar for you. Planning a getaway or romantic activities for yourself can allow the chance to refocus on self love. Personally, I always love to take the time out of the end of the year to travel either alone or with loved ones. Travel experts at New York Travel Guides, a travel website, did a study to find the 140 most romantic small towns in America. The top 2 were out west.

Out of all of the small towns in America, five towns in Florida were ranked among the most romantic small town. Including the overall number 3.

Crystal River, located in Citrus County, FL, is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. From dining at a great waterfront restaurant to seeing art at a local art gallery to discovering the town's beauty during a guided tour, there are many romantic things to do in Crystal River. Crystal River is also known for there manatees, so this town is perfect if you are on more of the outdoorsy side as well.

Located in the middle of the Florida Keys, Marathon, FL, is one of America's most romantic small towns. Some of the most romantic things to do in the town include having dinner at one of the town's beautiful waterfront restaurants and visiting Florida Keys art galleries. Also, plenty of luxury waterfront resorts for 'couples only' can be found in Marathon.

Fernandina Beach, Florida, is a romantic coastal town located on Amelia Island. With its incredible waterfront restaurants and waterfront hotels where one can enjoy outstanding views, the town is perfect for a romantic getaway. This town is history filled with museums like the Amelia Island Museum of History that you can visit. Perfect for couples or travelers who have a knack for history! 

St. Augustine's history district is the heart of the city and why so many people are drawn to this unique town. While visiting you can explore hidden courtyards, go for a stroll along buildings from the 1700s, and admire the town’s waterfront views. For a peaceful and relaxing date, stop by the Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. This park is a very popular place for couples to have there engagements.
