Officials have announced evacuation orders and shelter openings for Lee County as Hurricane Ian approaches.
UPDATE: MANDATORY EVACUATION FOR ZONE A/ ZONE B AND PARTIAL ZONE C – Interactive map.
Zone C in North Cape and North Forth Myers (West of I-75)
While these orders are mandatory, officials will not be going house to house, door to door and forcing you to leave. However, if you stay and something happens in the middle of the storm, you will have to wait to receive help. Wait until it is safe for officials to reach you.
Mandatory evacuations for Lee County are for Zone A. This zone encompasses mostly low lying areas. Also those along coastal areas and the barrier islands. In addition sections along the Caloosahatchee River. Evacuation orders are also now in place for all of Zone B which encompasses numerous areas in Cape Coral and also Fort Myers.

It is recommended if you live in a mobile home or a manufactured home that you evacuate. County leaders say once those hurricane winds get up to about 45 miles an hour, those homes are not a safe place to be.
Do not put out your garbage.
If you need help, a special hotline is now open for you to call. It is 211. DO NOT call 911 for storm info. These evacuation orders and shelter openings for Lee County were announced at 7am. No time stamp was announced for completing evacuations.
