Colts Broncos preview. The Broncos host the Colts on Thursday Night Football tonight. And it is night's like tonight when we need to remember back to the dog days of summer and be appreciative for the fact that we have football to watch. Before the season this game had some sizzle. But 4 weeks in, the outlook of these teams have changed. They have been maybe the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season... for sure bottom 5. Here's your Colts Broncos preview.
Denver
In Denver, I don't know if the problem is Nathanial Hackett, Russell Wilson, or a combination of the two. So far this season in the Broncos 2 wins, they have scored a total of 27 points. Russ is yet to cook in Denver. And the crowd has started a new tradition of counting down the play clock. It's been embarrassing to say the least. I will say, Denver is 2-0 at home this season... so there's that. And their leading rusher is now done for the season after tearing his ACL last weekend.
Indianapolis
Relax Colts fans, you guys haven't been any better. This team is a combined 0-2-1 in the division. Matt Ryan is done. He's lost 2 fumbles, put it on the turf many more times, and has thrown 5 picks this season. He is old, slow, and costing his team possessions. Jonathan Taylor is out tonight dealing with an ankle injury. All-Pro LB Shaquille Leonard is out for the game too. Frank Reich was once one of the brightest offensive minds in the game. Now you're starting to get the media talking about the hot seat. Is it time to bring back Nick Foles? I'm won't go that far, but another poor offensive performance by Indianapolis, and there is no reason to think it will look explosive, and Reich might have to start considering going back to Big D!(# Nick.
Indianapolis Colts @ Denver Broncos (-3)
Both of these teams are terrible ATS this season with both being 1-3. Neither team has a road win this season, and as bad as the Broncos have looked this season, the Colts have looked just as bad. I don't see a case being made for taking the Colts and the points tonight, so I lead Denver -3. But this is not a super big play. Just a sprinkle to make a bad game interesting.
Over/Under: 42
I LOVE the under in this spot. Unders are hitting on primetime games this season, and these teams are not good offensively. Indianapolis is 4-0 on the under this year while the Broncos are 3-1 on the under. Add in that both teams running backs are not playing, and I don't see either team crossing the 20-point mark.
The Play of the Game: Under 42
Notable injuries
As previously mentioned, both of the teams RB1's are out. Javonte Williams is done for the season while Taylor is missing the game with an ankle injury. All Pro LB Shaquille Leonard is out with a concussion and a fractured nose- ouch. Safety Julian Blackmon is also out for the Colts. Quinn Meirnez being out is going to hurt the Broncos ability to run the ball as well.
