13 Things We As A Floridian Are Thankful For

sunset

As a Floridian, There are many perks to living in Florida. We have great weather, lots of things to do, we don’t have to shovel snow in the winter and lots of interesting people. So we've compiled 13 things Floridians are thankful for, a list. Maybe more than 13.

In fact, according to the most updated U.S. Census data released in December 2021, the sunshine state has more new residents than any other state besides Texas. This is ever more evident than ever in our traffic congestion and especially the real estate market. More on that here:

220,890 new residents moved to Florida between July 1, 2020, and July 1, 2021. This means that Florida is still the third most populated state in the nation behind California and Texas, respectively.

So it seems many of the people who have vacationed here are making a decision to just stay in Florida and become a Floridian. Can you blame them?

Some historical Florida facts from the Florida Department of State:

  • People first reached Florida at least 12,000 years ago.
  • Written records about life in Florida began with the arrival of the Spanish explorer and adventurer Juan Ponce de León in 1513.
  • Florida became the twenty-seventh state in the United States on March 3, 1845.

National Florida Day is celebrated every year on January 25th.

Thanks to our friend Rachel Pitts, who originally compiled this list, let's take a look at our list of 13 things Floridians are thankful for below. Did we miss any?
