There is a special dining week underway in Southwest Florida where part of the proceeds go to feeding hungry children. Sizzle Dining Restaurant Week is really 20 days, but who is counting. I participated at a Sizzle Dining stop in Bonita Springs. It was so good that I have to share and encourage participation. A Table Apart, is a hidden gem on Bonita Beach Road and the special menu they put out is amazing.
There are more than 50 restaurants participating this year. Each one puts together their own two, three and four course pre-fix meals for prices that begin at $29 for lunch. Some feature their signature items. Others create a menu that is a mix of specials and favorite dishes. However, chef and owner Jarrod Davis of A Table Apart, has created an entirely new menu and it is killer. When I saw it online, I knew this was one I had to hit during the special dining week.
The idea of this restaurant event is three-fold. First, to get locals out and through the doors of these restaurants that are typically starving in the slow month of September. Second, to encourage and entice locals to try new restaurants through special pre-fix menus that won’t break the bank. Finally, and perhaps best of all, to support food insecure children in Lee and Collier Counties through Blessings in a Backpack. The organization sends kids home on the weekend and during school breaks with backpacks full of food. The meals they receive at school are sometimes the only ones they get on a regular basis.
Here are some mouthwatering photos from my Sizzle Dining stop in Bonita Springs.
