It's nearly time for Fantasy Fest in the Florida Keys. The first event in the annual, almost anything goes Halloween party is on October 19th and the fun doesn't stop until the 29th. And as part of the celebration, Key West is calling Party Animals for a Pet Masquerade. Whether you plan to take the Key West Express from Fort Myers or Marco Island, or drive to the festivities, this is one that animals should not miss.
The Pet Masquerade has been taking place for 25 years. The proceeds benefit Lower Keys Friends of Animals. There are lots of things that make this fun. First of all, it's one of the few Fantasy Fest events that really is family friendly. Second, any and all kinds of animals can and do participate. It's not just dogs. Cats, birds, reptiles, you name it, have made appearances on the masquerade stage. In addition, many pet owners show up with creative choreography to match the costumes.

Many of this year's entries are expected to reflect the 2023 Fantasy Fest theme of “Uniforms and Unicorns … 200 Years of Sailing into Fantasy.” It is a salute to the Florida Keys’ bicentennial and the U.S. Navy’s two centuries in Key West.
The Party Animal Pet Masquerade is Wednesday, October 25th. It is being held at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater. Show begins at 6:30 and registration opens at 5pm. It costs $25 to enter your pet but it's free for spectators. If you can't make this event but are still interested in attending Fantasy Fest this season, here is this year's schedule.
