Lions quarterback Jared Goff was perfect Monday night in the Lions 42-29 win over the Seahawks at Ford Field. He set an NFL record by completing all 18 of his passes in the game and threw 2 touchdown passes. He even caught a touchdown pass from receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Goff was not aware of his perfection during a post game interview. He thought he was close to perfection as he tried to recall every pass he threw throughout the night. Even head coach Dan Campbell failed to realize his quarterback was perfect during he game. At that point he felt bad because he had just given the game ball to someone else during the locker room celebration.
After a slow start this season Goff is getting himself dialed in. He completed every pass, going 11 for 11, in the first half last week in a win at Arizona.
LIONS QUARTERBACK JARED GOFF PERFECT
However, not all was perfect with Goff's performance. For stat geeks his actual Rating was 155.8. A perfect Rating for quarterbacks is 158.3.
While I considered Lions Quarterback Jared Goff perfect on Monday night, there are 5 thresholds a quarterback must meet in order to get a perfect rating. And by the way, a 100 percent completion rate is not one of them. It's actually 77.5 percent. Where Goff fell short was he needed 11.875 percent of his passes to go for touchdowns. Only 2 of his 18 passes scored touchdowns. That's 11.11 percent. That's why he didn't have a perfect rating.
I know. That's stupid.
The Lions have a bye week to work on perfection before hitting the road to play the Dallas Cowboys.
