Coach Prime Deion Sanders Got Lucky…This Time
Coach Prime Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes hung on to beat FCS power North Dakota State 31-26 Thursday night. Coach Prime’s son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw for 445 yards and 4 touchdown passes. However, this team’s still has swiss-cheese defense that will cost them this year if it is not fixed.
But the Buffs have another problem: Hubris.
With 1:41 this game was a wrap for Colorado. Just run the ball and run out the clock and enjoy the victory. But for some reason Shedeur wanted his friend LaJohntay Wester to pad his stats so the QB launched a long pass for the kill shot and the ball fell incomplete. More importantly the clock stopped and North Dakota State ended up getting the ball back with :31 seconds remaining.
COACH PRIME DEION SANDERS GOT LUCKY
As time later expired Cam Miller heaved a pass down field that was caught by Tyler Terhark at the 4 yard line and the game was over. NDST came within 4 yards of a great upset on opening night!
Can you imagine the media hype had Coach Prime Deion Sanders and his son blown the game to an FCS school, albeit a very good FCS school? The Buffs were not very smart. And I’m surprised Shedeur had a green light to attempt such a play in those game closing situations.
Coach Prime Deion Sanders and his Colorado football team better clean some things up before next week when they head to Lincoln to face Nebraska. For more college football talk tune in each weekday from 2-6pm to Craig Shemon and Company on ESPN Southwest Florida.
