Today I Learned: HEYDUDE Is Owned By Crocs

I was just minding my own business today, staying inside listening to the massive thunderstorms rolling across South Florida. At my desk, I was looking over press releases when I came across one from HEYDUDE shoes. HEYDUDE just signed on Sydney Sweeney to be a brand ambassador for them. Now, they are some comfy shoes, I like them, a lot of my neighbors here in Southwest Florida do, too, but then I ran across something. HEYDUDE Is Owned By Crocs.

At the bottom of every press release, there's always an 'about' section. In this case, here's what it said: "Crocs, Inc. (Nasdaq: CROX), headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, is a world leader in innovative casual footwear for all, combining comfort and style with a value that consumers know and love. The Company's brands include Crocs and HEYDUDE, and its products are sold in more than 80 countries through wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels."

This is absolutely mind-blowing to me. HEYDUDE has some of the coolest shoes out there, and Crocs, well, they're Crocs. HEYDUDE shoes are perfect for the Florida climate, Crocs get caught in the escalators at Disney World. There's no comparison. To even further separate the two, new Florida resident Sydney Sweeney has signed on as a brand ambassador.

"The brand never sacrifices style for comfort, which is why HEYDUDE's iconic styles are my favorite shoe option whether I'm traveling or commuting to set. Just 2 days before Christmas in 2021, Crocs bought HEYDUDE for $2.5 billion dollars. Since I'm usually off at that time, it's easy to see how I missed the news. Plus, you know, we were thinking about Christmas. Was it a huge boost to their bottom line? Well, Crocs is a publicly traded company so let's have a look at their stock price - which is trading at nearly the same price as it was nearly 3 years ago.

I'm a beach girl and I love discovering new ones whether in Florida or places around the world. Blue water, blue skies, fresh air, the combination never gets old.

The photos above and below are some that I took a few years ago in Portugal. The coastal European country has lots of beachfront, but the most beautiful ones are found south, in the area known as the Algarve.

Although not visible from the angle of the photo below, the water is a gorgeous blue. The honeycomb cliffs are fascinating to walk around, walk through and see from the water. It really is a stunning place.

And before you ask, yes, the water is cold, especially for a Florida girl. However, it feels so good.

I love this area of the world. Not only is it visually spectacular, but the food is fantastic, and the people are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. In addition, it is still a pretty affordable place to visit. Put Portugal in general on your must-visit list and star the Algarve as a must-see.

While dong some vacation daydreaming this weekend, I found a few videos on social media that had me looking up the costs of plane tickets. Wow are these gorgeous getaways.

Here are five gorgeous beaches with beautiful water. I think we could turn this video into a drinking game though. Every time the narrator says the phrase "crystal clear water" you drink. Listen and you'll understand. She does have some great videos though. 

The video says this lovely local is a mere 1.5 hours from Miami. But, where is this? The Bahamas? Bimini? Palm Island? Do you know?

If you love beaches but also find peace and comfort in the mountains, this might be the spot for you. Saint Lucia is also pretty easy to get to from South Florida. 

I wish I could click my heals and be in that see through canoe. It's called Moana island and it looks like a movie set. But it's real.

So far I've just posted photos of beaches. However, you have to have a place to stay. Look at this breathtaking resort. I don't think I'd ever come home.
