When you think of visiting a small town, you probably think of driving around small town U.S.A. and experiencing that area driving from one spot to the next. But, as it turns out, Florida has one of the best small towns to visit without a car, according to experts. So, if you're looking to really experience a city and not have to drive around when you're there, this could be a dream spot for you.

Florida Has One of the Best Small Towns to Visit Without a Car, Experts Say

The experts at TravelandLeisure.com have put together a tally of some of the best small towns in America to travel without a car. "Whether you're an urbanite who never got a license or just a traveler who prefers that someone else do the navigating, you'll find lots to enjoy in these locales, which offer the perfect mix of transit access, walkability, and quaint village living," they state. They add that even without a car, "As countless folk songs and movies make clear, America’s small towns are great places to explore on long, meandering road trips." That's so true. I simply love exploring small towns, especially just by walking around.

Before we get to our state, let's look at the No. 1 best small town to explore without a car. It's Jackson, Wyoming, which the magazine says is a place billionaires have been flocking to for years. "A 15-minute taxi ride through Jackson’s picturesque outskirts will bring you from JAC to the town square, where dozens of hotels sit within walking distance," they explain. They also suggest staying at the gorgeous Cloudveil or "affordable-but-trendy" Anvil Hotel to be close to all the attractions without having to drive. No. 2 on the tally is Winter Park, Colorado, which experts say is a great spot if you want to go skiing in Colorado but avoid I-70 traffic.

So, which Florida small town is one of the best to visit without a car? It's Rosemary Beach, Florida, with the experts at Travel and Leisure loving the historic nature of this space. "Rosemary Beach was built from scratch in 1995 with a walkable, New Urbanist master plan, and its 105 acres are explorable entirely by foot, bicycle, or golf cart," they do note that getting there can be tough, though, since it's a 30-minute drive from the airport in Panama City. But, once you arrive, you're set. I love the idea of exploring America's great small towns on foot, and I'm happy to see us represented.
