If you've dipped your toes in the dating pool and don't seem to be having any luck the reason may be because Florida is the worst state to find love.
Since I moved to Fort Myers, I have had the worst luck when it comes to dating. I've gone on dates here and there, but they don't seem to go anywhere. While many of my friends are on all the apps, I hear how it's even worse in the online dating realm that I think I'm good with my pup Rocket for now. I did have better luck when I lived in Sarasota, just an hour up the coast, but a new study reveals that when it comes to looking for love, Florida is the worst state to find it.
Florida Is The Worst State To Find Love
I don't want to tell you to give up hope when it comes to dating the Sunshine State, but according to a new study, you may have better luck somewhere else. Spokeo did a study looking at the top states for singles in 2024. They used modern dating trends to see what was important to both ladies and men when it comes to dating. What they found to be on top includes mental health awareness, sociopolitical involvement and debt sensitivity.
With all of that in mind, Florida came in dead last. As far as mental health awareness, Florida came in the bottom 10 of states for having the most mental health providers. Florida came in last place for having the most volunteers and registered voters. And for debt sensitivity? Florida has a lot of scammers as far as identity theft and fraud, in fact we came in at #7 for the likelihood of becoming a romance scam victim.
So while things may not look great for finding love, I still don't think it'd be worth trading in palm trees and beaches for somewhere else. And Massachusetts came in at #1. And if anything, you can go to your local shelter and find a 4-legged love that will probably make you happier anyway.
Do you have your vacation plans set or are you still figuring them out? Florida is full of gorgeous coastlines to discover. However, if you REALLY want a change of scenery, check out these 5 dreamy beaches for your summer bucket list and for TikTok Tuesday.
I'm a beach girl and I love discovering new ones whether in Florida or places around the world. Blue water, blue skies, fresh air, the combination never gets old.
Dreamy Beaches
The photos above and below are some that I took a few years ago in Portugal. The coastal European country has lots of beachfront, but the most beautiful ones are found south, in the area known as the Algarve.
Although not visible from the angle of the photo below, the water is a gorgeous blue. The honeycomb cliffs are fascinating to walk around, walk through and see from the water. It really is a stunning place.
And before you ask, yes, the water is cold, especially for a Florida girl. However, it feels so good.
I love this area of the world. Not only is it visually spectacular, but the food is fantastic, and the people are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. In addition, it is still a pretty affordable place to visit. Put Portugal in general on your must-visit list and star the Algarve as a must-see.
Dreamy Beaches Videos
While dong some vacation daydreaming this weekend, I found a few videos on social media that had me looking up the costs of plane tickets. Wow are these gorgeous getaways.
If you don't have a TikTok account, don't worry. I've made it easy to view by taking these links from mine. Simply scroll down and watch from this post. All are office friendly and share worthy. Have fun planning your summer getaway.
Crystal Clear Water Beach Round Up
Here are five gorgeous beaches with beautiful water. I think we could turn this video into a drinking game though. Every time the narrator says the phrase "crystal clear water" you drink. Listen and you'll understand. She does have some great videos though.
Close To Florida
The video says this lovely local is a mere 1.5 hours from Miami. But, where is this? The Bahamas? Bimini? Palm Island? Do you know?
The Best Of Both Worlds
If you love beaches but also find peace and comfort in the mountains, this might be the spot for you. Saint Lucia is also pretty easy to get to from South Florida.
Moana Island, Yes Please
I wish I could click my heals and be in that see through canoe. It's called Moana island and it looks like a movie set. But it's real.
Wow Hotel
So far I've just posted photos of beaches. However, you have to have a place to stay. Look at this breathtaking resort. I don't think I'd ever come home.
