Florida Highway Patrol Uniforms Are One Of The ‘Sexiest’ In America, Survey Says

Policeman on crime scene . Red plastic tape and police officer, gun belt, handcuffs and gun. With a sunshine flare coming in.

Many of us have heard of sexy police officers. But can police uniforms be sexy?  We’re not talking about a costume for Halloween, either. Wealth of Geeks, a financial advice website asked 3,000 participants to identify the sexiest state police uniforms.

Flordia Highway Patrol

Although they're called "patrolmen" and not police, they were still tanked for their uniforms. Florida came in at number 8 in the ranking, with their uniforms referred to as "Sunshine State Sleek." The ranking described the Florida Highway Patrol uniforms as "Tan shirts that capture the essence of endless summer, paired with matching trousers." Is it just us or do their descriptions sound like something straight out of a romance novel?

If you’re wondering who came in first place, the Lone Star state of Texas took the top spot. "Envision shirts in a crisp, authoritative dark tan, known affectionately by troopers as ‘Texas Tan," they wrote. "It's the cowboy hat that truly sets this uniform apart, worn with the swagger of a rodeo champion and the solemn duty of a ranger," they continued.

Following behind Texas are New Hampshire, Missouri, New Jersey, and Arizona.

Which state police departments have the least-sexiest uniforms?

According to the ranking, the bottom five are Alaska, South Dakota, Montana, Utah, and North Dakota.

Looking in your rearview mirror and seeing the flashing lights of a police car may get your heart racing because nobody likes a ticket. But if you do, at least you can say you were pulled over by an officer wearing the "sexiest state police uniform" in America.

"In the end, it’s not just about the uniforms but the people who wear them with honor and style," Wealth of Geeks said in a statement. "As one survey respondent aptly put it, 'These uniforms are more than fabric and threads; they’re the embodiment of the states they represent and the officers who wear them with pride.'"

The New Jersey State Police was established in 1939. According to their website, the first training academy was held in Bradenton with 40 students. This class graduated 32 members, and by the end of 1940 (the first full year of operation), FHP had 59 patrolmen.
