Kalen DeBoer to Alabama
The Alabama coaching search is the story of college football today. Rumors have swirled as to who will be the man to take over for Nick Saban. Some of the names in line include Mike Norvell, Lan Kiffen, Dan Lanning, and Kalen DeBoer. Dan Lanning has publicly said he is staying in Eugene with the Ducks. But news has surfaced leading some to say Kalen DeBoer to Alabama is getting close. Friday morning his weekly radio hit with 93.3 KJR in Seattle was canceled without an explanation. Please understand that Coach DeBoer & UW Athletics are continuing to work towards a future we can all be excited about.
At this time, Coach will not be joining us this morning, but we will… pic.twitter.com/QlyhX5JZHp
This is the biggest bread crumb since the false reports that Dan Lanning was in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday night. On Thursday Geoffrey C Arnold confirmed to Craig Shemon that Lanning never left Eugene. But the Kalen DeBoer rumors are starting to heat up. Alabama has stated that it is their intention to have the position filled in a search that will be “thorough, but expedient”. Since the original tweet, KJR has since provided a bit more information. That’s probably due to all the speculation around the Huskies head coach and his future in Seattle. But the radio station is adamant that this is because a meeting with UW AD Troy Dannen.
We are discussing the latest on Coach DeBoer with @ChuckPowellKJR @BuckyJacobsen & @AshleyLolaRyan. As was just mentioned, Coach was unavailable this morning because he is meeting with UW AD Troy Dannen in person. We hope a deal can be reached soon. 🤞

If the next coach of Kalen DeBoer, then the tide are getting another coach that knows how to win. DeBoer has 4 years of experience as a head coach in the FBS. He has a 37-9 record in 4 seasons (2 at Fresno State and 2 at Washington). Prior to Fresno State, DeBoer had a ton of success at the NIAA level with Sioux Falls posting a 67-3 record. He lost in the semifinals his first season and won the National Championship in his last 4 seasons. DeBoer is propelling himself into the stratosphere of the highest profile coaches in college football. If he takes the Alabama job, then he will have massive shoes to fill.
